Being Grateful

Being grateful to God for all of His blessings is part of my every day prayers.

My husband Cecil and I have been married for 69 years. On April 16, 2009 we will celebrate our 70th Anniversary. We married in Sacramento, CA in 1939.

Four and a half years later, right after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Cecil joined the U.S. Army Air Corps (now called the U.S. Air Force). On his 14th mission his plane was shot down over Bremen, Germany. He was a prisoner of war until January 29, 1945 when 125,000 POW’s were marched in below zero stormy weather to Stalag VII A, near Moosburg, Germany. They were liberated on April 29, 1945 by General Patton’s 3rd Armoured Division who greeted Cecil and his buddies with warm handshakes.

His safe return from the war is probably one of our greatest gifts! Added to this the blessings of three wonderful sons and their families!
